BART Announces Sunday Delays In San Francisco
Due to an ongoing project, BART riders can expect delays throughout Sunday.
SAN FRANCISCO, CA — BART riders in San Francisco may experience some delays in service Sunday, as the transit agency will be working on single tracking trains between the 24th Street and Balboa Park stations.
The single tracking is part of a larger project to replace 50-year-old traction power equipment in the city. Riders in San Francisco can expect delays of up to 10 minutes from 8 a.m. to 7 p.m., BART officials said.
Since BART reduced its rides back in March due to the COVID-19 pandemic, BART crews were able to install more than 21 miles of new electrical cable between the Montgomery and 16th Street stations.

The increased progress allowed BART to eliminate at least 35 potential Sundays of single tracking.
Going forward, BART will continue single tracking on select Sundays as the work continues. The entire project in San Francisco is expected to wrap up in late 2023, BART officials said.
