Charlize Theron Stuns At San Francisco Film Fest

Plus, what organizers admire most about the Hollywood A-lister.

SAN FRANCISCO, CA — Famous for her trailblazing roles, Charlize Theron exuded charisma and glamour during the 2018 San Francisco International Film Festival, where the Oscar-winning actress was honored with a special tribute on Sunday at the Castro Theatre.

The epitome of latest chic fashion trends, Theron sizzled in her radiant St. Laurent ensemble. She wore a sleeved embroidered-sequined blouse that echoed her expressive green eyes, and paired it with high-waist leather shorts and lovely lace up sandals, all the while, delighting the audience with her ebullient personality during Q&A sessions before and after a screening of her new film, “Tully.”

In the comedy-drama, Theron plays Margo, a mom who’s overwhelmed by motherhood while caring for her newborn baby. But soon, she finally gets some relief when a young night nanny helps alleviate her fears and frustrations.

To prepare for her role, the 42-year-old actress had to do something most people would never intentionally do. She gained 50 pounds, which, Theron mentioned, was necessary to provide further visceral depth and dimension to her character. Obviously, her sheer determination has paid off as moviegoers and critics alike are raving about her performance in the film.

Expressing the same sentiment, SFFILM director of programming, Rachel Rosen, applauded Theron for her natural gift as an actress.

"Charlize Theron’s talent is obvious and impressive, but we also admire her interest in portraying a huge range of personalities, working on both complex physical performances and smaller, intimate portrait," Rosen said.
