Coast Guard Aircraft Propeller Damaged on Runway at SFO

From US Coast Guard: The Coast Guard is investigating an incident that damaged the propeller of one of its fixed-wing aircraft at the San Francisco International Airport, Tuesday afternoon.

The Sacramento-based Coast Guard C-27 Spartan aircraft was at San Francisco International Airport for a logistics flight.

After taxiing to a runway and while preparing for takeoff, one of the plane's propellers made contact with the runway and the crew aborted the flight.

The plane will be moved to Coast Guard Air Station San Francisco, adjacent to San Francisco International Airport, where crews will inspect the damage.

There were no reported injuries to the four crew members.

"We appreciate the quick response and support of the emergency crews at San Francisco International Airport," said Cmdr. Roy Eidem, the executive officer of Coast Guard Air Station Sacramento. "Fortunately there were no injuries to any of our crew in this incident, but it's comforting to know that the emergency response community is there to help when we need it."

In accordance with Coast Guard aviation safety policies, the incident will be investigated to determine the cause.
