Kabir McNeely Named Award Winner at IndieX Film Fest

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE - San Francisco, CA - February 2, 2021 - Kabir McNeely announced last night that he has been named an Award Winner for Best Young Filmmaker (Male) at IndieX Film Fest for his short film “Blue Girl”.

IMDb qualifier IndieX Film Fest is an LA-based international film festival with bimonthly live screenings and Q&A with cast & crews at the Raleigh Studios in Hollywood, California. From the pool of official selection, which has a very competitive acceptance rate, IndieX chooses the nominees and award winners of the season.

Mauro Aprile Zanetti, collaborator on McNeely’s film “15 Minutes of Fame", described McNeely as a “one-of-a-kind talent”. In a YouTube comment, Zanetti said “Being able to produce such [a] an insightful project all in remote at 15 means mastering leadership not just tools, hence the ability to direct people to create and deliver universal emotions. Bravo! Ad maiora!”

Since the release of his short film in November, Kabir McNeely has received several film festival nods including a nomination for Best LGBTQ Short at IndieX Film Fest and a finalist placement at the Independent Shorts Awards. He also partnered with the Mixed Roots Foundation for their New Year Kick Off event of 2021. In a press release, Holly Choon Hyang Bachman of the Mixed Roots Foundation called McNeely a powerful voice for adopted and LGBTQ+ youth.

Kabir McNeely is an award-winning actor and filmmaker known for his podcast talk show “The Kabir McNeely Show” and his work with the American Conservatory Theater.
