Public Memorial Monday For Public Defender Jeff Adachi
Adachi "always stood up for those who didn't have a voice, have been ignored and overlooked, and who needed a real champion."
SAN FRANCISCO, CA —A public memorial service for San Francisco Public Defender Jeff Adachi will be held starting at 11 a.m. Monday at San Francisco City Hall, 1 Dr. Carlton B. Goodlett Place, near the intersection of Grove Street and Van Ness Avenue.
Adachi, 59, died recently after having dinner with a friend in the North Beach neighborhood.
Staring in 1987 as deputy public defender in the San Francisco office, Adachi went on to become a five-time elected public defender for the city, and was known for innovation and improving work conditions for deputy public defenders.
