San Francisco Man Dies In Motorcycle Crash Near Lake Berryessa

The motorcyclist hit a guardrail and died at the scene, authorities with CHP and the sheriff's office said.

NAPA COUNTY, CA — A San Francisco man died Saturday when his motorcycle hit a guardrail near Lake Berryessa.

At 11:15 a.m., emergency personnel with California Highway Patrol Napa Area, Cal Fire and American Medical Response ambulance responded to the solo-motorcycle traffic collision on Berryessa Knoxville Road south of Berryessa Drive.

"For an undetermined reason, the rider lost control of his motorcycle and collided into a guardrail located on the west shoulder, which resulted in a fatal injury to the rider," CHP Officer Marc Renspurger said.

The Napa County Sheriff-Coroner's Office identified the motorcyclist as 25-year-old San Francisco resident Moises David Santos Hidalgo.

Santos Hidalgo was pronounced deceased at 11:36 a.m. at the scene, 1 mile north of Smittle Creek, according to sheriff's Spokesman Henry Wofford.

Berryessa Knoxville Road was closed in both directions following the collision.

"At this time, it is unknown if alcohol or drugs were a factor in this collision," Renspurger said.
