Alert Witness Helps Foil San Bruno Burglary Suspect
The witness confronted the suspect while waiting for officers to arrive and subdued the suspect after he pulled a knife on him, police said.
SAN BRUNO, CA — An alert witness helped foil a San Bruno burglary suspect early Friday morning, police said.
The witness called authorities at around 1:10 a.m. after noticing what appeared to be an auto burglary in progress according to police.
The witness confronted the suspect while waiting for officers to arrive and subdued the suspect after he pulled a knife on him, police said.

The suspect, identified by authorities as a 30-year-old San Bruno man, was arrested on suspicion of assault with a deadly weapon and attempted and burglary according to police.
The SBPD said in a statement that the case illustrates the partnership the department has developed with the San Bruno community but warned against confronting suspects as the witness in this case did.

“You are our eyes and ears,” the SBPD said.
“Please continue to be vigilant in helping us to stop criminal activity in our neighborhoods, but also please understand that confronting suspects can be extremely dangerous.
“It is generally best to maintain a safe distance, communicate critical details to responding officers, and ensure that you can be an effective witness after the fact.”
