College Connection is an enrichment program designed by the San Mateo Community College District to provide current high school students the opportunity to get an "early start" on their college experience and earn college credit. The program is also sometimes used by middle school students. Enrollment fees are FREE for students who enroll in 11 units or fewer. Most classes in the Summer session start on June 18. There was an information night for interested parents and students at the College of San Mateo’s Theatre Building (building 03) on June 7.
Students can enroll in day or evening or online classes and receive college credit for course work successfully completed. Most courses are transferable to four-year colleges and universities, enabling the student to earn honors credit while fulfilling university requirements without the expense of most university programs.
Interested high school students must submit a College Connection Course Request Form (available at http://collegeofsanmateo.edu/forms/docs/CollegeConnection.pdf) with the required signatures. Additionally, interested middle school students may take advantage of this program provided that they receive a letter of recommendation from any official at their school (e.g., Principal, Counselor or Instructor).
