BPAC has participated for several years during Children’s Day in the Park with an “Information” table as part of the Committee’s “Community Outreach” and collegial relationship with the San Bruno Park School District. Student Max Engel of Parkside Intermediate School assisted at the table along with BPAC member Gus Sinks.
“Bike to Work Day” which occurs each year on the second Thursday of May has been supported and staffed by BPAC Members at two “Refresher Stations” located at San Bruno BART and San Bruno Caltrain. More than 300 cyclists passed by these two installations and were treated to coffee, pastries, bananas, energy bars, tire repair kits, maps of San Mateo Bicycle Trails, and “Bike to Work” bags. Vice Chairman Adam Cozzette and Members Henry Mar, and Walter Bird staffed the BART station, while David Nigel was stationed at Caltrain.
The Posy Parade is the oldest non-motorized parade in the United States. The parade goes from 11 a.m. to noon and travels along San Mateo Avenue from Kains Avenue to El Camino Real, onto Crystal Springs Avenue and to San Bruno City Park. After the parade, Community Day in the Park will feature live music and food, a baseball game, carnival rides and games. This wonderful Community event is presented by the San Bruno Lions Club and the City of San Bruno.
A Bicycle “Fix-It” station was secured and installed at San Bruno BART last September 2018. This was a project facilitated by BPAC, City Staff, and BART.
BPAC Members actively participated in the San Mateo Avenue Streetscape Plan “Community Walk Shop” as well as the “Stakeholders” meeting, and “Drop-in Community Workshop.”
The presentation concluded with BPAC 2019 Goals.
Chairman David Nigel acknowledged the outstanding, capable staff Darcy Smith, Community and Economic Development Director, Ruch Dande, Associate Planner, and David Wong, Associate Engineer.
Chairman Nigel expressed how grateful and fortunate BPAC is to be working with such talented and dedicated professions; as the Committee looks forward to another successful and productive year.
