City Of San Bruno Names New Fire Chief

The City of San Bruno announced Tuesday it has appointed a new Fire Chief to succeed Dave Cresta, who retired in December.​

SAN BRUNO, CA — The City of San Bruno announced Tuesday it has appointed a new Fire Chief to succeed Dave Cresta, who retired in December.

Ari Delay, who has served for the past 24 years with Coastside Fire Protection District/Cal Fire in Half Moon Bay, will take over in San Bruno.

"Chief Delay has demonstrated a strong sense of knowledge and experience in fire services and stood out as an excellent addition to lead the San Bruno Fire Department," City Manager Jovan Grogan said in a statement.

In Half Moon Bay, Delay worked as a firefighter paramedic, fire captain and Battallion Chief. He has also served as Cheif of the La Honda Fire Brigade and worked for the U.S. Forest Service, Cal Fire and the Coastside Fire Protection District in all ranks, from firefighter to Fire Chief.

In San Bruno, Delay will lead the department's 35 full-time employees, including 21 firefighters.

"Being chosen to serve as fire chief for the City of San Bruno is a tremendous honor," Delay
said. in a statement. "This is a team of highly skilled, dedicated professionals who serve a great community. While I will cherish my time on the coast, I look forward to serving the residents and visitors of San Bruno and supporting the amazing team here in San Bruno."

Delay was born in La Honda, where he lives with his wife, Julie, and two children. He will begin work in San Bruno on Feb. 18.
