“This opportunity for Dr. Kemp to preside over a K-12 district does not come around often and is perfectly aligned with her talent, experience, knowledge and leadership skill to educate the whole child from preschool through high school and beyond”, commented Kevin Martinez, SBPSD Board President.

Dr. Kemp was appointed to lead San Bruno Park in 2017. Under her leadership the District has undergone major transformation and visioning around systemic change culminating in the overwhelming success with Measure X, the $79 million bond to modernize San Bruno Park Schools. Her message around creating “Schools with Tomorrow Inside” to provide 21st century teaching and learning centers in San Bruno captivated the imagination of an entire community. Under her leadership, new systems are in place on the business side of the house as well as in special education. She secured hundreds of thousands of dollars in grant funding to create programs that address the needs of English Language Learners and also in STEM. Importantly, the District turned the corner to fiscal solvency under her leadership.

“A track record like Dr. Kemp’s doesn’t go unnoticed. She has skillfully set the stage for major change to improve delivery of services to students: teacher evaluation process, professional development, hiring of new educational leaders, and the bond modernization program. I call upon our school district community not to lose track of how far we have come because of Dr. Kemp’s leadership and the groundwork she has laid for us to continue the educational and facilities transformation of San Bruno Park School District”, Trustee Martinez concluded.

“San Bruno Park School District is richly blessed with strong community partnerships that have supported a vision for change in our schools. It has been a distinct honor and privilege for me to work with the staff, parents and the Board to lay a foundation for 21st century schools in San Bruno that will support student success now and for generations to come”, commented Dr. Kemp.

Details regarding process for a superintendent search will be announced soon.
