Dear Friends,
We don’t have a national emergency at our southern border, but we do have one within our borders. Every year, some 40,000 people are killed by guns; one third of those deaths are homicides, two thirds are suicides. We have the worst gun violence of any developed country.
Please join me for an important conversation about gun violence prevention on April 13, 2019 at 11 a.m. at the Burlingame High School Theater.
I will be joined by members of two movements that have kept the spotlight on the urgency to end this epidemic: students motivated by the Parkland kids who launched Marches For Our Lives across the country and health care professionals who treat the devastating wounds of gun violence. We will also explore how San Mateo County schools, law enforcement and non-profits are collaborating to prevent shootings from happening.
