CSM 1ST TO 30 WINS WITH McADAMS NO-HITTER TO CLINCH TITLE

MONTEREY – Emily McAdams pitched a no-hitter as College of San Mateo repeated as Coast North Conference softball champions with a 5-0 victory at formerly state top-ranked Monterey Peninsula College on Thursday.

Current state No. 1 San Mateo (30-2, 10-0 Coast North) has a five-game lead over co-second Foothill and Ohlone (both 5-5) with four league games remaining. MPC (26-3, 8-2 Coast South) fell out of a first place deadlock with San Jose (26-4, 9-1) in the South division. The Bulldogs are the state’s first team with 30 wins this season.

Amanda Ubois-Weitenhagen hit her tenth home run, a solo shot. All have been within a 32-day period. Aubrie Businger, Kaitlyn Grech, and Riley Donovan also had RBI hits. Ally Sarabia had a single and scored a run.

McAdams extended her state leading pitching / wins record to 21-1, striking out 15 while allowing just two base runners – on a walk and a hit batter. She has a state-leading 0.60 E.R.A.

--CSM next matches its state-leading 23-game winning streak at the 10-game skein of Big 8 Conference leader San Joaquin Delta (26-3) in Stockton on Saturday at 12 noon. That game will be important for post season seeding since Delta is currently No. 1 and CSM No. 2 in Northern California RPI.
