Cañada Visits Bulldogs Friday:

CSM BASEBALL SWEEPS SOLANO WITH OTTA SLUGGING 1.077 & STAPLETON 1.200

JJ Ota went 4-for-4, including a pair of doubles and four RBIs, as College of San Mateo beat visiting Solano College, 10-5, Saturday and sweep a 3-game baseball series with the Falcons. Designated hitter Christian Stapleton smacked a 2-run home run in the fifth inning to give the Bulldogs an 8-0 lead at the time.

Ota is batting .692 and has a 1.077 slugging average. Stapleton is hitting .400 and slugging 1.200. Anthony Flores had a double with a pair of RBIs and leads Coast Golden Gate teams with seven batted in.

--CSM (3-1) hosts unbeaten Merced (3-0-1) on Tuesday at 1:30 p.m. and county rival Cañada (1-1-1) on Friday at 2 p.m. Merced and Cañada played to a 12-inning 4-4 tie on Jan. 31. On Saturday (Feb. 8) San Mateo entertains Diablo Valley at 1 p.m., hoping to avenge a 5-4 extra inning away loss in the season opener.
