CSM’S TAINA LIVAI HAS STATE’S NO. 2 JAVELIN AND NO. 9 SHOT MARKS IN FINAL RS MEET
SAN MATEO – Taina Livai had the state’s No. 2 women’s javelin throw, 129 feet, 9 inches, in the final regular season track and field meet for College of San Mateo on Thursday. It improved the sophomore’s own Northern California lead by more than four feet heading into next week’s Coast Conference Championships at De Anza College. Livai also won the women’s shot put at 38-4 1/4 to move into the No. 9 spot in state rankings and take the CSM season lead from Teme Fanguna, who placed second at 36-4 3/4. (Faguna’s season best is 37-3 3/4.) Emily Chiesa also had a personal best javelin throw of 97-10 to place fourth.

Not to be overshadowed, Quincy Daniels had a huge improvement to win the men’s javelin throw at 172-6, moving up to No. 4 in the state.
CSM women’s sprint star Yan-Jun (Sophie) Liao focused on the 200 meters, winning by more than a second in 24.73 seconds, just off her No. 4 state ranking time of 24.72. She also helped CSM win both relays as the Bulldogs improved their season bests to 50.21 in the 4 x 100 and 4:15.45 in the 4 x 400.

Elijah Folau won the men’s shot put at 48-6 but was short of his No. 2 state-ranking mark of 49-11 with the 16-pound implement.
