GRECH & McADAMS HOMER & HURL NO. 1 CSM SOFTBALL PAST SOLANO

That highlighted a 3-for-4 day for Grech, who later singled home Sterling to start a 3-run fourth inning.

Brittany Prock was a perfect 4-for-4, including RBI singles in the fourth and sixth frames – the latter providing the mercy-rule 8-run margin to end the game after Emily McAdams finished a near perfect 1-hitter on the mound for the Bulldogs.

McAdams (3-1) struck out eight and walked none, facing just 19 batters, one over the minimum.

CSM NO. 1 IN NORCAL: San Mateo (8-2) remains the top community college team in Northern California in the Massey Ratings and is the only team to beat reigning state champion and overall top rated Mt. San Antonio.

CSM (8-2) returns home to host a pair of doubleheaders Friday and Saturday, starting at noon Friday with College of the Sequoias (2-5) . Reedley and Shasta visit for Saturday games, starting at 10 a.m.

3 HRs PROPELL CSM BASEBALL PAST MARIN, 6-0

SAN MATEO – Home runs by Christian Ontai, Anthony Flores, and Justin Torres propelled College of San Mateo over visiting College of Marin, 6-0, in a non-league baseball game Tuesday afternoon.

Christian Stapleton had singled home JJ Ota in the first inning with the only run the Bulldogs actually needed. Torres also had a triple and scored twice. Joining the other homer smashers with two hits apiece were Stapleton and Andrew Howard. The Bulldogs (8-3) totaled 14 hits.

Starter Sean Prozell went seven innings on the mound to square his season record at 1-1. He struck out five while spreading four hits.

Stapleton is now the No. 1 hitter in the Coast Golden Gate Conference at .455 and has the top slugging average, .773. Flores leads in home runs (2) and RBIs (13). Danny Carnazzo has the most hits (15) and is tied for the lead in doubles (6) along with Ota.

Marin (4-8) visits San Mateo again on Thursday at 2 p.m.
