CSM To State Softball Finals For 7TH Straight Year

MCADAMS PITCHES A PAIR OF 1-0 SHUTOUTS TO SEND CSM TO STATE SOFTBALL FINALS FOR 7TH STRAIGHT YEAR; SARABIA HAS KEY HITS

Emily McAdams won the battle of the state’s winningest softball pitchers – twice – recording 1-0 victories over College of the Sequoias to send College of San Mateo to the California Community College Athletic Association Finals for the seventh straight year – and riding a 34-game winning streak!

McAdams (30-1) became the first and only pitcher to reach 30 wins this year, leaving No. 2 Arianna Guzman of COS stalled with 27 victories -- although she twice held the Bulldogs to single runs, Friday and Saturday. McAdams was better, with a pair of shutouts -- recording a dozen strikeouts and scattering seven total hits

Ally Sarabia had key hits in both contests. In the first contest, the sophomore out of Half Moon Bay High singled home McAdams in the fifth inning.

Sarabia, who plays first base, had the only extra base hit of the series on Saturday. Her double got things going in the sixth inning. Avery Revera pinch ran for Sarabia and scored on a long single by Kaitlyn
Grech (her third hit of the series).

STATE CHAMPIONSHIPS:
State top ranked and No. 1 seed CSM (41-2) opens with Southern California No. 4 Fullerton (37-7) at 1:30 p.m. Thursday in a state tournament opener at Bakersfield College. The 4-day double elimination tournament runs through Sunday.
Friday’s other opening round pairings: 11 a.m., S2 Cypress (38-7) vs. N3 San Joaquin Delta (36-6);
4:30 p.m., S1 Mt. San Antonio (40-6) vs. N4 Sacramento (33-9);
7 p.m., N2 San Jose (38-4) vs. S3 Palomar (37-5).
