David Nigel on Bike & Ped Committee & San Mateo Ave POP-UP Event

Multiple Bike & Ped Safety Committee events and Saturday's San Mateo Avenue POP-UP event

San Bruno is in the fact-finding process of improving San Mateo Avenue; the heart of our City. Several people were in attendance during the “Oversight Stakeholders Committee, San Mateo Avenue Streetscape Plan” meeting last Thursday prior to this morning’s (March 30 2019) gathering; including Bicycle and Pedestrian Vice Chairman, Adam Cozzette and Past Chairman Walter Bird, as this gathering coordinated by City of San Bruno Associate Planner Rucha Dande.

Mrs. Dande also organized Saturday morning’s “Pop-Up” event held at Citibank plaza area adjacent to their bank at San Mateo Ave and Jenevein. Architects presented ideas and requested input from our community …. as there was representation from our City Council, City Staff, BPAC (Bicycle and Pedestrian Advisory Committee) members, Planning Commissioners, San Bruno Park School Board Trustees, merchants, and very importantly, many San Brunans.

This morning, BPAC Committee Members Matt Gaines and David Nigel attended the San Mateo Avenue Streetscape Plan "Pop-Up"event that was attended by more than seventy-five citizens. Citizens had the opportunity to express their ideas and input concerning the proposals posted for view and consideration by the architects. The Architects were in attendance to answer questions and explain proposals that were generated during the two hour “Walk Shop Walking Tour” held earlier this month and attended by a large group. Those in attendance were divided into two groups, each walking from Posy Park , four San Mateo Avenue blocks to El Camino Real, and returning to Posy Park. An evaluation was distributed, filled out by the participants, and submitted to the architects. The architects used these ideas to formulate the ideas and proposals for this morning’s “Pop-Up” event.

Today’s event was another of several opportunities for San Brunans to express their ideas, dreams, and desires for the future of San Mateo Avenue.

CHAIRMAN’S BULLETIN
Number 50
Saturday, March 30, 2019

Dear BPAC Colleagues and Staff:

Find out what's happening in San Brunofor free with the latest updates from Patch.

I wish to acknowledge and thank Vice Chairman, Adam Cozzette and Past Chairman Walter Bird for attending and participating in the “Oversight Stakeholders Committee” meeting last Thursday, coordinated by our very capable Associate Planner Rucha Dande.

This morning, Committee Member Matt Gaines and I attended the San Mateo Avenue Streetscape Plan "Pop-Up" Event that was attended by more than seventy-five citizens hosted by the architects and coordinated by Rucha Dande. Citizens had the opportunity to express their ideas and input concerning the proposals posted for the view and consideration.

Please send a photo of yourself to Rucha for inclusion in our Annual Report to our Mayor and City Council that will take place Tuesday, April 23rd. I respectfully request that all BPAC Members plan to attend if able to do, as I will be introducing our Committee Members. If possible, please wear your BPAC shirt.

As a reminder, please plan on joining us for “BIKE TO WORK DAY, Thursday, May 9th, 2019.”

David telephoned Bill Bright, Bike to Work Day, Event Coordinator and informed Bill that BPAC will staff the Refresher Station at the San Bruno Caltrain Station sponsored by YouTube. He was very pleased and informed us that he will supply a table and will bring the refreshments and materials from the YouTube office.

Special “THANKS” to our very own Committee Member, Cecile Riborozo, for once again coordinating the Walmart Refresher Station as she has so diligently and efficiently done these past several years. Cecile will be visiting family in Florida, but will still make sure that everything is prepared and delivered to the San Bruno BART Refresher station.

Thank you everyone who volunteered to staff our Refresher Stations. Henry, Matt, and Gus please let David know if you will be participating.
