Engine Issue Prompts Flight To Return To SFO

SAN FRANCISCO INTERNATIONAL AIRPORT, CA — A United Airlines Flight headed to Sydney, Australia had to return to San Francisco International Airport shortly after takeoff Friday morning due to a mechanical issue.

United Airlines Flight 863 departed from SFO Thursday night at 11:15 p.m. but had to return to the airport Friday morning at 12:34 a.m. due to a left engine issue, according to airport officials.

There were 259 people onboard the plane.
