The Chan Zuckerberg Initiative (CZI) announced on January 29, 2019 that it has invested $2.5 million into three dozen local organizations to address the most urgent needs in the areas of education, housing, homelessness, immigration, workforce development, food security, and healthcare in the Belle Haven, East Palo Alto, North Fair Oaks, and Redwood City communities of San Mateo County.

HIP Housing was selected to receive a grant to provide home sharing matching services that help people remain in their homes while also providing an affordable option for those seeking housing by matching people who have a room to share with people looking for an affordable place to live. It will also provide rent scholarships to very low-income parents so that they can focus on being financially independent.

CZI's investment will help HIP Housing preserve below-market-rate housing in the Belle Haven and North Fair Oaks neighborhoods and the cities of East Palo Alto and Redwood City by acquiring and renovating existing apartment complexes that upon purchase are deed restricted as affordable and ensure tenants are not displaced. This partnership is another great example of how the community is coming together to keep San Mateo County strong.

Holiday Store

As each child entered the Holiday Store their eyes were filled with excitement when they saw the array of items available for them to select gifts for their parents and siblings.

Thank you to all the donors who made this event possible for the children to experience the joy of giving and have a cherished memory.

Adopt a Family Program

Thank you to the many donors who participated in the Adopt a Family Program. Your generosity provided 75 families and 134 seniors with much needed items.

The families and seniors were touched by the community's thoughtfulness and generosity.

HIP Housing empowers families and individuals to live happier, more independent and self sufficient lives through innovative housing and mentoring programs that help break the cycle of poverty and end homelessness.
