Endorsement Committee meetings are hosted by HLC when developers apply for our endorsement. HLC members who reside in the city where the proposal is located are invited to hear more about the proposal and provide feedback before our board considers endorsement. Staff from the developer are generally present during this meeting. All of the information shared will inform our potential endorsement so we hope you will help us review this proposal. The proposal includes 483 homes, 72 of which will be affordable (even distribution at 50%, 80%, and 120% AMI), an outdoor courtyard, open public space, 799 bike parking spaces, and more. Please join us on Wednesday, June 12th 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM in Menlo Park. To RSVP, please email: amelendrez@hlcsmc.org

San Mateo General Plan Meetings Coming Soon!

The City of San Mateo is moving forward with their next set of General Plan meetings. Thank you to everyone who participated in the prior round San Mateo General Plan meetings. We want to continue to include better housing language and action in the General Plan process to make sure that San Mateo can continue to be an inclusive, diverse, and equitable community for all residents and workers.

Here is a list of upcoming meetings in June, we hope you can attend. The two workshops allow the community to draw on a map areas they believe should be studied for redevelopment. This could means the potential to create even more homes than existing plans in the City of San Mateo! Can’t attend? That’s ok!

You can always email your feedback here: generalplan@cityofsanmateo.org

See you soon!

Update on County Funding

San Mateo County has released a Recommended Budget for FY 2019-2021, including an increased allocation for affordable homes. The Board of Supervisors will consider these budget recommendations at a public hearing on Tuesday, June 18th, in Board Chambers, 400 County Center, Redwood City.

Update On The Proposed Homes at Firehouse Square in the City of Belmont

On May 28th the Belmont City Council unanimously moved forward on the Firehouse Square proposal, which will include new homes with 80% of those homes affordable. This is a continuation of the City of Belmont’s amazing leadership supporting a number of deeply affordable homes in a walkable, transit oriented location. With the Firehouse Square proposal nearing final approval we would like to thank the City, those who showed up, and those who emailed in support of the development. We can’t wait to see such transit-oriented and equitable homes at ground breaking by the end of the year!
