Magnificent Retirement Dinner Honoring John Muir Principal

More than 130 people were in attendance at the John Muir School Annual Spring Dinner to honor retiring Educator, Principal, Dr. Frances Dunleavy, Ed. This event was in recognition and honoring of a distinguished career of 38 years as teacher and school administrator.
Many members of the John Muir staff worked tirelessly to organize and coordinate this marvelous event held at the Basque Cultural Center in South San Francisco CA.

Speeches by several teachers and friends described Dr. Dunleavy’s significant achievements, leadership, friendliness, and being revered by many generations of students, parents, and fellow educators; not only in the San Bruno Park School District, but throughout San Mateo County.

On display were numerous plaques of recognition, proclaiming the great dedication, innovations, and positive reputation of John Muir School initiated by their talented and hard-working Principal, Dr. Dunleavy. These “Proclamations” were presented by both local and State of California legislators, the City of San Bruno, and many others.

A sensational power-point slide show of photos of Dr. Dunleavy’s life, close and loving family, friends, colleagues, and depicting her career was viewed and appreciated by those in attendance.
Next was a clever take-off on the famous television show “Jeopardy.” Three teachers were contestants answering questions presented by the Mistress of Ceremonies, aka “Alex Trebek,” about Dr. Dunleavy and the school. This activity was both informative and humorous!
One of the thirteen tables was entirely comprised of retired John Muir Teachers and Staff representing many successful years of education at John Muir School.
ABOVE: Dr. Dunleavy concluded the evening’s proceedings with many personal remarks, expressions of gratitude, acknowledging family, friends, and educators and expressing that she is looking forward to this next stage of her life!
At the conclusion of this memorable evening, many photos were taken and people mingled and exchanged stories and greetings with one-another.
