To celebrate Valentine’s Day, we asked Patch readers to write a love letter to that special someone and let us deliver it. This is Aurelio Ray Herrera’s love letter to his girlfriend, Anastasia:
Dear Anastasia,
I can’t express how lucky I am to have you in my life. After agreeing to connect for the first time at 840 Wine Bar in Redwood City, I walked in and saw you sitting down. I have never seen a more beautiful woman. Right away, butterflies formed in my stomach and we shook hands. Wow – my eyes were locked in and the loud music playing was muted.

During the next four hours sitting at the bar over a few drinks — leaning over into each other’s ears, sharing funny stories of our Plenty of Fish dating experiences – I couldn’t get enough of your sweet laughter and gorgeous smile. Turns out this was the beginning of something special that I don’t think either one of us ever thought would happen: a relationship.
Thirty months later and counting – my knight in armor, my best friend, my lover and my Anastasia – I can’t ever imagine what life would be like without you. I always look forward to kissing you goodnight before we go to bed or when we say goodbye to each other before heading off to work, and hugging and kissing you as soon as we see each other at the house after a long day of work. Those kisses are what makes my life shared with you worth living.

Your three beautiful children are so lucky to have a mom like you. I see the daily duties you perform as a mother to your children, whether they’re with you or not (when they’re with their dad half the time). All I can say is they need to model a Marvel superhero character after you. You go way beyond for your children to make sure that they are happy and full of love. Without hesitation, you are a true hero in my eyes — a hard-working single mother and a successful nurse.
While I can write and write about all of the memorable experiences we have shared during our 30 months of happiness — sporting events, concerts, date nights, traveling, family time, late night conversations, house projects, making dinner and shopping, to name just a handful — I am excited for what our future holds.
I love you Anastasia,
Aurelio Herrera
