"Gage started on August 21st. As part of his many duties, Gage will serve as the Emergency Manager for the City. I know he is looking forward to working with City Staff to prepare for future disasters.

National Preparedness Month serves as a reminder that we all must take action to prepare, now and through the year, for the types of emergencies that could affect us where we live and work.

This year’s theme is Disasters Happen. Prepare Now. Learn How.

One of the recommendations for this year is to take the time to learn a lifesaving skill like CERT and CPR.

The Fire Department provides quarterly CPR classes. We have two classes left of the schedule this year, Saturday September 29th and Sunday November 4th. Interested residents can sign up using the San Bruno Recreation department’s portal.

We started our Fall CERT class last night with additional classes scheduled for the 17th, 24th, Oct 1, 8, 15 and 20th.

Emergency notifications from Police, Fire and Emergency Medical Services are another important part of any preparedness plan

Police and Fire department staff as well as the Community preparedness committee continue to stress the importance of SMC Alert at various events including National Night Out and the recent Health and Safety Fair at Tanforan.

Just a reminder, as we discussed at the last council meeting, the San Mateo Disaster Day is Saturday, September 22nd and the San Mateo County event Center from 10am till 4pm."
