IN MEMORY OF ANNA MARIE JONES

San Bruno has lost one of its outstanding community members. Anna Marie Jones passed away on her 83rd birthday, October 26th, leaving behind a wonderful legacy of school and community service.
Born in San Francisco, Anna Marie lived in San Bruno 75 years. Completely selfless, as a devoted mother, Anna Marie volunteered throughout her children’s education in San Bruno public schools on school site councils, with PTA and sports and music boosters. Long after her children graduated from Capuchino, she continued to support San Bruno schools volunteering on committees and activities, including helping the high school district pass bond measures that rebuilt Capuchino. She supported the City itself in numerous advisory capacities including serving on San Bruno’s Personnel Board, appointed by the City Council.

Anna Marie loved young people, believing that each child has the capacity to soar. She relished helping youth and during her 25-year career in San Bruno Park School District, until she retired from Parkside as Office Manager, she relished the opportunity to help them and befriend them.
Likewise, her children’s friends became her friends and those friendships only grew deeper as the years passed. A number of them have followed her lead in giving back to the community as teachers in San Bruno Park School District and San Bruno’s Mayor. There are few extended families like the one Anna Marie created through her outpouring of love and support for others.

Enduring considerable personal challenges with loss of family and health, she was never the victim – always the survivor. Anna Marie had a larger than life spirit, personality, and heart. Her smile and laugh are etched on the hearts of all who knew her. The world needs more Anna Marie’s. She set the bar high for what human kindness and goodness should look like. She will be missed.
