A Message from the California Public Utilities Commission
Next month* your household and millions of other households throughout the state will receive a credit identified as the “California Climate Credit” on your utility bill. This credit is your household’s share of payments from a state program requiring power plants and other large industries that emit greenhouse gases to buy carbon pollution permits.

The California Climate Credit is applied twice per year to residential customers’ electric bills, and once per year to residential customers’ gas bills. Customers receiving both electric and gas service will receive both credits.
For October 2018, the electric credit is $39.42 and the gas credit is $29.85. Because of the credit, your utility bill next month may appear lower than usual.

Beginning in 2019, the electric credit will be applied each April and October, and the gas credit will be applied each April.
