SUBJECT: Receive Presentation on History and Status of the City’s Cable Enterprise

BACKGROUND:
Staff has prepared this report as a prelude to the presentation on this subject. The presentation will be made in 3 parts covering the following:

Part 1: The evolution of the Cable TV industry in the United States. This part will focus on the development of the industry, and by implication San Bruno Municipal Cable, to its current status.

Part 2: The presentation will cover the evolution of the Cable Enterprise to its current state along with a review of pertinent statistics, financial data and performance metrics.

Part 3: This part of the presentation will focus on the benefits and costs of a fiber upgrade to San Bruno Municipal Cable. This part will include coverage of consumer, community and city benefits along with a comparison to other technologies, competitors and a City going through the same process.
