Joanne Magrini in her prepared statement
“I would like to thank everyone for coming out on this beautiful day to acknowledge Carolyn Livengood’s dedication to San Bruno by honoring her extraordinary service as the first recipient of the City of San Bruno’s Service Recognition.
“This recognition is conferred upon a person or organization that has dedicated a minimum of 25 years to San Bruno, has demonstrated a positive impact on the citizens of San Bruno, and has made significant contributions to the community through active involvement in multiple programs which influence the lives of many San Bruno citizens.
“In fact, Carolyn’s dedication to our City spanned over 50 years.
“I would now like to introduce Kris Gonzales, from the San Bruno Rotary Club, who nominated Carolyn. She will highlight Carolyn’s devotion to our community and why she is our first honoree.”
Kriss Gonzales’s (ABOVE) prepared comments:
“The Rotary Club of San Bruno together with the San Bruno Lions was proud to nominate Carolyn Livengood for the Extraordinary Service Award.
“Many of us have worked with Carolyn on Commissions, Committees, and Boards, from the Beautification Task Force, to Citizens’ Crime Prevention Committee, and the Culture & Arts to name a few. She put her community first! Her dedication to the community throughout the years made her an easy choice to be nominated as the first recipient of this award.”
Joanne Magrini then introduced Peter Carey, from the San Bruno Lions Club, who also nominated Carolyn for this recognition.
Peter Carey, (ABOVE) in his prepared comments:
“It’s been about 1 ½ years since Carolyn passed. She contributes to at least 5 local newspapers, served on 3 City Communities for close to 50 years of combined service. YES 50 years. Her support of Skyline College, and the Avenue of Flags and Wreaths Across America are most certainly legendary. We are as a community still so much richer thanks to Carolyn’s examples and impact.”
Joanne Magrini then introduced San Bruno Mayor Rico Medina (ABOVE) who remembered a few special interactions with Carolyn and then with Lexi Livengood they unveiled the recognition plaque.
A very special part of the recognition was the release of butterflies (ABOVE). Carolyn loved butterflies. It took a few minutes for each of them to warm up, but all flew off – maybe on their way to be with Carolyn.
There was a small refreshment table (ABOVE) set up in the gazebo for those who wanted to stay and remember Carolyn.
Inserted above and following are just a few random photos showing many of those in attendance.
Only a few photos are captioned, as there are way too many to try and name each person.
