San Bruno Speaks: New Mayor To Be Rico Medina

As of Wednesday afternoon, Medina had 3,395​ votes.

SAN BRUNO, CA — San Bruno city Councilman Rico Medina will be the city's next mayor, according to unofficial election results released Wednesday. City election results indicate that Medina received more than 87 percent of votes over his challenger Annette Zink, who received about 12 percent. Zink is a local property manager.

Medina, who has served on the City Council for 12 years, received broad support. He was endorsed by current mayor Jim Ruane, Rep. Jackie Speier, state Sen. Jerry Hill, state Assembly Speaker pro Tempore Kevin Mullin and other county and city officials.

As of Wednesday afternoon, Medina had 3,395 votes for him, while Zink had 493, data from the registrar's office showed.

Ruane has been on the San Bruno City Council since 1995 and has served as mayor since 2009. He announced in August that he would not seek re-election in order to spend more time with his family.
