San Mateo County Park Update - 13 Nov 2018

Do YOU Park?

Article Source: San Mateo County Park Foundation

It is heartbreaking to learn of the devastation inflicted by wildfires in northern and southern California. Our hearts go out to everyone who has been impacted. Locally, our air quality has been extremely bad. When air quality reaches unsafe levels, it is best to refrain from active park use.All of us should be prepared for a longer and more destructive fire season. Two ways to do this is to create defensible space around your home and have fire-safe landscaping. Anyone who owns a home or building that is adjacent to land that is mountainous, forest-covered, brush-covered, grass-covered, etc. (parks!) is required to maintain defensible space of 100 feet from each side of the structure. CalFire has more information on this and other ways to be ready and safe in case a wildfire strikes close to home.
