Fascinating displays were located throughout the property with staff explaining the various pieces of equipment, laboratory demonstrations, breeding of Mosquito fish, and strategies to combat mosquitos and other undesirable pests.

Emphasis was directed to the “Dumping of ALL Standing Water” where mosquitos can easily breed and multiply.

Staff also encouraged citizens to report “Dead birds” by telephoning 877-WNV-BIRD.

The Peninsula Humane Society and SPCA had representatives explaining their mission, goals, and activities.

Visitors were treated to popcorn, snacks, and drinks.

San Bruno is very capably represented by Robert Riechel who has successfully served on the Board of Trustees for many years. The Chairman of the Board is Joe Galligan of Burlingame. Joe’s father served on our City of San Bruno Council and as Mayor.

If you find this in your yard, call the San Mateo County Mosquito & Vector Control District at

650-344-8592 or call if you have mosquito problems.

MARK your calendar for April 2020 as there should be another District Open House.
