SBPSD COMMUNITY DIFFERENCE MAKERS RECOGNITION

In recent years, it has been the practice of San Bruno Park School District to recognize at the end of the school year those Community members who are making a difference in the progress of the District. Given the phenomenal dedication in recent months from a cross section of our community to pass Measure X, the District wanted to recognize those individuals sooner than later.

Dr. Stella Kemp, Superintendent was joined by Campaign Committee Co-Chairs Kathy Cannon and Wendy al-Mukdad in presenting certificates and “Difference Maker” pins, noting that, while many more people than those being announced also stepped forward to help on the Measure X bond campaign, it was this group of individuals in particular who, collectively, rolled up their sleeves and walked the talk either doing evening phone banking, week-end door knocking, putting up yard signs, mailing, fundraising, and/or donating work space and services. On their own time, these individuals volunteered the excessive hours that became the foundation of Measure X passing.

It was noted that, not only did Measure X pass, it was accomplished with 69.7% of the vote, well beyond the required 55%. The voter turnout for a San Bruno School District election was the highest on record. Unquestionably, those who volunteered on the Measure X campaign made the DIFFERENCE in a success that will now propel us forward to modernization of our schools.
