It is with honor that I have chosen to run for San Bruno City Council in 2019.

From childhood, public service has been an important part of my life. My father, Bob Marshall, served as Mayor of San Bruno for 12 years. My mother, Paula supported my father and continues to serve in many volunteer capacities herself. Today my entire family, including all three siblings, continue to serve our collective communities. We do this because we learned at an early age how important it is to give back through community service; by working for the greater good we enrich all lives, including our own. I firmly believe a wonderful quote from Winston Churchill: “We make a living by what we get; we make a life by what we give.”

I’m a proud San Bruno native and 43-year resident of our beautiful city. I live in Crestmoor Park with my three daughters: Elissia, a Junior at Capuchino HS, Paulina, now in the 5th grade at St. Robert’s School, and Valentina, who loves her days at Hugs Hangout preschool. As a young man I attended St Robert’s School as well. I moved on to St Ignatius College Prep and attended Sonoma State, Golden Gate University and UCLA in preparation for my Real Estate career.

San Bruno is not just my home, it is my community. A growing business hub, and a great place to raise a family, the city helped shape who I am today. And I am so grateful to have this opportunity to continue to serve.

I have served several years on the San Bruno Parks and Recreation Commission and was a Board member and two-term President of StarVista, one of San Mateo County’s largest non-profits, offering counseling, crisis prevention and youth housing. I paid close attention to budgets and effective policy decisions. As the past President of the Rotary Club of San Bruno, I worked closely with the community to serve their needs. In my two terms as St. Robert’s School Board President, and active with the school’s Men’s Club, I saw, first-hand, how leadership is formed through service. Volunteering for the school and parish has allowed me to witness some of the most selfless individuals in our community. Like many of you, I know that we have much to be proud of in our city and we face changes ahead as well.

I believe I am well suited to face these challenges and collaborate with the Council and community to lead San Bruno forward.

If elected to our City Council, I will put my vast experience, accumulated knowledge and business acumen to work for you. As a father, businessman, homeowner, volunteer, and active community organizer over many years, I have the skills and commitment needed to strengthen and enliven San Bruno. I ask for your support as we work together to honor our city’s legacy while forging its bright future.
