County Releases FY 2018-19 Recommended Budget for Adoption

The San Mateo County Board of Supervisors at its Sept. 25, 2018, meeting, will adopt the Fiscal Year 2018-19 budget after considering $290.9 million in revisions that include final fund balance adjustments, re-appropriating capital improvement projects, information technology projects and Measure K initiatives. County Health Department Unveils Visual Identity Under New Name

In an effort to build consistency and clarity about all that they do, the County's health department announced this week the unveiling of their new logo, tagline and name. Now known as San Mateo County Health with a tagline "All together better," the new visual identity and messaging is a testament to the importance of collaboration and the partnerships necessary in achieving their mission to help everyone in San Mateo County live longer and better lives. Department of Public Works Seeks Public Input on Main Thoroughfare in West Menlo Park

The Santa Cruz Avenue and Alameda Corridor Improvement Task Force, led by the San Mateo County Department of Public Works (DPW), is asking the community that lives near or uses the busy main thoroughfare known as the “Y” in unincorporated West Menlo to share their safety improvement priorities. A public survey, open through Sept. 23, 2018, is being used by the task force to determine near- and long-term opportunities to improve traffic-related safety in the corridor between Sand Hill Road and Avy Avenue. Annual Civics 101 Academy Kicks Off This Week at County Center

The County's Civics 101 Academy held its first class Sept. 12 at County Center in Redwood City with a kick-off introduction by County Manager John Maltbie and Chief Communications Director Michelle Durand. The nine-week series of courses is centered around County government where participants learn about local government, meet local officials and tour County facilities. Many former graduates have used Civics 101 as a springboard to leadership roles in their own communities and to serve in important roles on County and regional boards and commissions. LEARN MORE

San Mateo County Celebrates National Recovery Month

Throughout September, Recovery Month celebrates people who have reclaimed their lives through recovery from substance use and mental health conditions and honors the greater community that makes recovery possible. The annual observance highlights inspiring stories that help people from all walks of life find the path to hope, health, and wellness, and brings together more than 35 community organizations, local businesses, San Mateo County Health System’s Behavioral Health and Recovery Services (BHRS), and over 600 people in the recovery community for a number of events.
