SAN BRUNO, CA - July temperatures have been brutal in many regions across the country, with heat indexes over 100 degrees and heat advisories issued in many states.
Forecasters are warning residents across the country to be vigilant and make sure not to spend too much time outdoors when temperatures are high.
"Take extra precautions if you work or spend time outside," according to a weather service statement. "When possible, reschedule strenuous activities for early in the morning or in the evening."

Other recommendations from forecasters include wearing loose clothing and drinking plenty of water.
Energy companies are also offering their advice to residents who are plagued by the hot weather. To cut down on costs, it's best to run appliances in the morning and close the blinds to stop the sunlight from heating up a room. Keep the vents closed and doors shut in rooms that are not occupied.

If you're craving something on the healthier side, this shop has 25 flavors of hawaiian ice. The shop opens at noon seven days a week.
- It’s-It Ice Cream, 865 Burlway Rd: Opening in 1928, It's-It has become a staple in the Bay Area though the shop's products can be found across the country. "It's It" is an ice cream sandwich which has flavors like strawberry, pumpkin, cappuccino and more. The shop is open Monday through Friday from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m.
- Aqua Club Dessert & Beverage, 440 San Mateo Ave: Aqua Club's desserts are known to be unique and perfect for instagramming. Customers can have their gelato served with a mochi waffle or as a gelato bun. The shop is open Wednesday through Monday from 12:30 to 10:30 p.m.
