Hello, my name is Teri Chavez and I am seeking election to the San Bruno Park School District Board of Trustees. I am an engaged parent and have long been involved in our schools and on various District-wide committees. By profession, I am a financial analyst with a major corporation and hold a degree in economics. I will look at the District’s goals and vision through both the lens of parenting and finance.

I am one who embraces communication and strives to be inclusive when working on problem solving and decision making. I believe in the values of cooperation, integrity and transparency as the foundation for building trust.

So, as your elected official, I will bring collaboration and cohesiveness to the school board while serving the interests of my community. Every student in our school district deserves an opportunity to be successful and to achieve their potential in a safe and inclusive learning environment. I will advocate for resources and programs to achieve this and close the achievement gaps within our schools, specifically with English Language Learners and special needs students.

I am the only candidate that has been involved in recent school parent volunteer positions such as PTA Treasurer for 3 years, School Site Council for 3 years (and currently), as well as several District committees: 7-11 Advisory Committee, Superintendent’s Advisory Committee, DELAC Committee. I have been working alongside many incredible parent volunteers. I believe I have my finger on the pulse of what concerns and goals parents have, teachers have, and administration has to take San Bruno Park School District to the next level.
