1. Comedian Jon Lovitz of "Saturday Night Live" fame will perform at 8 p.m. at the Improv at the Irvine Spectrum.Â
2. D23, a three-day convention for fans of all things Disney, kicks off Friday with various previews and discussions about The Walt Disney Co. and its affiliated theme parks, films, TV shows and other products and services. D23 also features appearances by the casts of Disney Channel shows, an exclusive screening of the new film "Planes," a behind-the-scenes look at "Mary Poppins" and more. The convention runs through Sunday at the Anaheim Convention Center.

4. Last chance for the Orange County Fair. Friday's highlights include the Damsels of Destruction Demolition Derby at the Action Sports Arena, Rebelution, Matisyahu and Collie Buddz at the Pacific Amphitheatre and Fleetwood Mac tribute band Rumours at the Hangar Entertainment Arena. Saturday's highlights include the Orange Crush Demolition Derby at the Action Sports Arena, a charity concert by Roger Daltrey of The Who at the Pacific Amphitheatre and Oingo Boingo tribute band Dead Man's Party at the Hangar Entertainment Arena. Sunday features former Supertramp singer Roger Hodgson at the Pacific Amphitheatre and Dread Zeppelin Metalachi at the Hangar arena. Find schedules, directions and more info here.
5. Four San Clemente denizens made the academic Deans' List at Azusa Pacific University. Angela Cuccia, Dane Pernot, Andrew Shubin and Spencer Stewart were honored for a spring 2013 grade-point average of 3.5 or better.Â
