Art opening 10/9 at Casa Romantica: surf artist Kevin Short
The artist is nationally acclaimed for his paintings of coastal habitats and surf culture
On October 9, Casa Romantica opens a month-long solo exhibition of paintings and prints by Kevin Short, a Coastal Regionalist painter whose studies of coastal habitats and surf culture have earned him national acclaim and a reputation as a "gutsy colorist" by critics such as Jean Stern (Executive Director of The Irvine Collection of California art).
Short’s paintings and prints are like love letters to the California coastline, exemplifying how artists can draw attention to land use and preservation. An avid surfer, Short frequently depicts the surfing subculture in his subject matter. His landscapes and slice-of-life scenes are vibrant with energetic, out-of-the-tube color.
