Bethany Hamilton Proves 'Unstoppable' In New Film

Filmmaker Aaron Lieber of San Clemente shows the life of the famed Hawaii "Soul Surfer" in his new documentary film.

SAN CLEMENTE, CA —Bethany Hamilton survived a shark attack, learned how to surf one-armed, and lives out her "Soul Surfer" title.

Over five years of filming, local filmmaker Aaron Lieber shows Hamilton's journey becoming a wife and mother, surfing and celebrity. Lieber wove in footage from 2003, of her recovery following the tiger shark attack that took her arm.

A feature film of the incident and her ability to overcome launched Hamilton into her celebrity status.

According to Lieber, this film will "rewrite history," he told the Orange County Register.

'Unstoppable' resonates with people with disabilities, surfers, athletes, and mothers, Lieber says.

"For young girls, this is a real woman who is uplifting and positive," Lieber was quoted. "To see her struggle and see her succeed, and see her vulnerable and all these things are super important."

Hamilton's story has touched millions around the globe.

Now, Lieber waits for the film to release to see how long the ride will last.
