Community Development and Beaches, Parks & Recreation Departments set to reopen to the public as early as June 15th
6/9/2021…San Clemente, California…The City of San Clemente will reopen its facilities to public access for various services over the course of the next four weeks. The City will continue to follow County and State guidance related to mask use: Persons who have been fully-vaccinated can enter and use all City facilities without face coverings; persons who are unvaccinated should continue to use face coverings when visiting City facilities. All operations described in this press release are subject to change based State and County guidance.

Beaches, Parks & Recreation Department

Beginning on June 15, 2021, the Recreation Division will resume regular operations at all facilities. Please be advised of the following details pertaining to recreation facilities:
- San Clemente Community Center (100 N. Calle Seville) office will reopen for all services and transactions, including recreation registrations, rentals, etc., under the following hours:
Monday-Thursday, 8 a.m. – 5:30 p.m.; and alternating Fridays, 8 a.m. – 5 p.m. The facility will be open on Sundays, 8 a.m. – 3 p.m., and will be closed to public access on Saturdays unless an event or program is scheduled in advance.
Room rentals for meetings and events will resume. Applications must be submitted no later than two weeks in advance of the requested rental and can be completed online: www.san-clemente.org/recpermits.
- San Clemente Aquatics Center (987 Avenida Vista Hermosa) The Aquatics Center pool will have a regular mid-day closure Monday-Friday, 12:30–3 p.m. The front counter will remain open for walk-up services and registrations during this time. Public lap swim (short course only) will be available by reservation and drop-in. Reservations will be exclusively available in Lanes 11-13 for 60-minute time blocks during all operating hours. Drop-in swim, with up to three swimmers per lane at peak times, will be available for all other lanes open outside of regular programming or rentals. Shared equipment (ie. kickboards, weights, noodles) will be available for public use and cleaned twice daily.
Recreation Swim is available Monday-Friday, 10:30 a.m. – 12:30 p.m., and Saturday/Sunday 12-4 p.m. for up to 50 persons. Pre-reservation and payment of the daily pool use fee is required for all individuals (swimmers and spectators) who will be visiting the facility. The play structure will be open Friday-Sunday. Diving boards will remain closed due to staffing limitations.
Locker rooms will be open for full use with touch-free faucets. Visit our website for public lap swim hours: www.san-clemente.org/swim.
- Ole Hanson Beach Club (105 W. Avenida Pico) will remain a reservation-based facility for public lap swim. Public lap swim will be available Monday-Thursday, 10:30 a.m. – 5p.m. Family swim will be available Monday – Thursday, 1:30 – 5 p.m. Pre-reservation and payment of the daily pool use fee is required for all individuals (swimmers and spectators) who will be visiting the facility. Please be advised, the Beach Club front counter will reopen as a cash-free facility. All forms of credit cards will be accepted for in-person payments on rentals, classes, and programming.
- San Clemente Municipal Golf Course will offer online tee time reservations for all users as well as walk-up reservations on a first come, first serve basis. Shared carts will be allowed at $20 per rider; single riders will be charged an additional $10. The Dave Cook Pro Shop and driving range facility will be available at full capacity and service. The Pride of the Pacific Bar and Grill will be open Friday-Sunday, 8am-5pm with the Snack Bar open seven days per week, 8:30am-5:30pm and Beverage Cart operating Friday- Sunday, 9am-5pm.
- Dorothy Visser Senior Center will begin reopening in July with the following preliminary schedule:
- July 1st, Red Cross Blood Drive
- July 6th, fitness center reopening, call the Center for more information
- July 19th, Big Rummage Sale raising money for Meals on Wheels; donations are welcome.
- Exercise classes, caregiver support groups, Bingo, education talks, etc. will be added beginning in July, running throughout the summer.

- Tennis and pickleball reservations will be eliminated and all play will resume as first come, first served. Players are reminded that crowding on the courts and the use of chairs and umbrellas on the court surface is prohibited. The courts are for active players only, those waiting should remain on the outside of the fence for the safety of all players. Court lighting is available until 10 p.m.
- Playgrounds will have all swings replaced as normal and no capacity limits.

Community Development and Engineering Departments
The Customer Service Lobby for Engineering, Building and Planning Services will re- open to the public for in-person appointments only beginning June 15th. Customers may book in-person appointments for large construction project plan submittals, and Planning and Engineering services. The appointments are available on the City’s website by going to the main Permit page: www.san-clemente.org/permits.
All other services are available to customers online, including electronic plan submittal and electronic plan review for a variety of Building and Planning permits. These online services will remain and we will continue to process roofing, solar, mechanical, electrical, plumbing, pool, small remodel projects, deck and patio cover permits online. For customers who are unable to find what they are looking for online, we continue to offer Zoom appointments for customers to speak with City staff from the Engineering, Planning and Building Divisions. Customers can make appointments online to speak with a staff team via Zoom to discuss a business or development proposal, learn about the City’s application process and submittal procedures, or ask questions about zoning, regulations and requirements before submitting a permit.
