Hit-And-Run Motorcycle Crash Kills Woman, 61, In San Clemente

A San Clemente man, believed to be the driver of the motorcycle in the fatal crash, is behind bars a Sheriff's Department spokesperson says.

SAN CLEMENTE, CA —A motorcyclist was arrested Thursday on suspicion of a hit-and-run collision that killed a pedestrian in San Clemente.

Adam Horner, 38, of San Clemente, was booked on suspicion of felony hit-and-run and was being held on $50,000 bail, according to jail records.

San Clemente resident Susan Fernandez, 61, was fatally struck by a motorcycle shortly before 10 p.m. Wednesday near El Camino Real and Boca De La Playa, according to Carrie Braun of the Orange County Sheriff's Department.

Fernandez was pronounced dead at the scene, she said.

Witnesses gave deputies a description of the motorcyclist to officers at the scene.

"A motorcycle matching the description was located by patrol deputies in a nearby neighborhood approximately 30 minutes after the incident," Braun said.

Horner, the person believed to be the driver of the motorcycle at the time of the collision, was arrested on suspicion of felony hit-and-run and booked into Orange County Jail.

It is not yet known if drugs or alcohol played a part in the crash.
