Landslide Leads To Road Closure In San Clemente
A landslide is blocking lanes leading to a total closure of San Clemente's beach area road.
SAN CLEMENTE, CA — A landslide is blocking this San Clemente roadway, and now residents will need to find a temporary way around, authorities say.
***ROAD CLOSURE****
Drivers, pedestrians, bicyclists, and residents who live between Camino Capistrano and Avenida Pico off of Pacific Coast Highway, all lanes of northbound and southbound PCH will be closed until further notice, Orange County Sheriffs Department said over social media announcement.

According to reports weather is causing the hillside and ssidewalkto actively shift, making the area a hazard, they said.
The City of San Clemente has closed a portion of North El Camino Real, between Camino Capistrano and Avenida Pico, due to the compromised public safety from that landslide.

It is expected that the road will be closed through February 14, 2019.
- Drivers heading south on Pacific Coast Highway, please use Camino Capistrano.
- Drivers heading north on El Camino Real, please use Avenida Pico to the I-5 Freeway.
The rain over the next 24-hours will likely worsen the situation, they said, so please be careful and avoid the area at all costs until further notice.
