Man Ejected, Killed In San Clemente Rollover Crash

A Chula Vista man was killed Saturday morning in a solo vehicle crash on an off-ramp from the southbound 5 Freeway in San Clemente.

SAN CLEMENTE, CA — A Chula Vista man was killed Saturday morning in a solo vehicle crash on an off-ramp from the southbound San Diego (5) Freeway in San Clemente.

The crash was reported just before 4 a.m. at the Avenida Calafia exit, according to the California Highway Patrol.

The 28-year-old victim was driving his 1997 Ford Explorer southbound in the fast lane of the freeway when he suddenly veered to the right causing the SUV to overturn, the CHP said. The man was ejected and both he and the SUV came to rest on the Avenida Calafia off-ramp.

The man's name was not released while the Orange County coroner's office notifies his next of kin.
