Missing Person Drill Set for San Clemente Beaches

Don't mind the helicopters and police and fire pros all over the San Clemente Pier and beach Wednesday morning; it's only a drill. San Clemente Marine Safety Chief Lt. Rod Mellott said his agency, the Orange County Fire Authority and the OC Sheriff's Harbor Patrol -- along with other agencies -- are conducting a missing person exercise starting at 9:15 a.m. All the agencies will be coordinating to rescue one unfortunate dummy from the water off the coast. Mellott said the exercise was to help prepare the agencies for the busy summer tourism season in OC beaches and parks.
