Motorcyclist Killed on San Diego Freeway

The individual collided with a car and a big rig on Sunday morning.

A motorcyclist was killed on the San Diego (5) Freeway in San Clemente when he collided first with a car and then a big rig, a California Highway Patrol officer said today.

The crash occurred on the northbound San Diego Freeway south of Camino De Estrella around 11 a.m. Sunday, the California Highway Patrol reported.

The motorcyclist was northbound at an undetermined speed when he struck the 2003 Toyota driven by 52-year-old Dana Point resident Gilbert Frank Filko, said CHP Officer B. Marshall.

He then went to the right and collided into the 2013 Freightliner driven by 46-year-old Los Alamitos resident Leroy Jay Han in the slow lane and was thrown from his motorcycle, the officer said.

The motorcyclist, a male whose age and identity were not immediately released, was pronounced dead at the scene, Marshall said.
