National Charity League Capistrano Coast Awards Six Scholarships to Local Teens

Students from San Clemente High, Capo Valley High and San Juan Hills High rewarded for their exemplary community service and academics.

The Capistrano Coast Chapter of National Charity League, Inc., (NCL) has awarded scholarships totaling $5000 to six graduating seniors from three local south county high schools. These students demonstrated leadership, academic excellence and a commitment to community service throughout their high school careers.

The Chapter reviewed over 60 applications for the scholarships from young women who attend high schools represented by the members of NCL Capistrano Coast’s senior class. The applicants received points based on the following guidelines: community service, GPA, leadership experience, academic programs/awards and coursework levels including additional responsibilities such as employment and extracurricular activities. The applicants were also asked to communicate in essay form how her service experience was meaningful to her and made a difference to her community and to others. The recipients may not be a member of the NCL Chapter. All applicants were rated individually based on these guidelines and then confidentially ranked by points received from highest to lowest by the scholarship committee.

The six 2017 NCL scholarship recipients are:
