New Max Berg Playground Hosts Grand Opening Saturday
Brand new playground equipment at Max Berg Plaza Park is already popular with the neighborhood kids, but it will be officially unveiled Saturday.
Though the grand opening for the new playground at Max Berg Plaza Park isn't until Saturday, kids all week have been climbing, sliding and biking around the new equipment.
Earlier this year, the playground equipment at the park was identified as the most in need of replacement of all the parks in San Clemente. The new equipment will be accessible to both able-bodied and disabled children, according to a release from the city.
The new structures and landscaping include a new tree and shade structure; various climbing equipment and swings and a rubberized surface. Two levels of play include ramps so kids with wheelchairs can fully access the equipment.
The blue, purple and green color scheme was chosen by neighborhood kids, according to the city release.
The old playground equipment will be donated to “Kids Around the World” who will refurbish it and bring the playground to a community in need in another country, the release states.
