New Power Outage Hits San Clemente

UPDATED: Sunday blackout ends early Monday. It affected 227 accounts in Talega.

Hundreds of San Clemente residents were left without electricity for much of Sunday and early Monday, officials said.

Power went out for 227 customer accounts in the Talega area at 8:50 a.m., according to San Diego Gas & Electric.

Service was initially expected to resume in the early afternoon, but SDG&E kept pushing the time back. The last estimate was 2 a.m. Monday.

SDG&E's website blamed the outage on "a combination of factors" that caused "a problem with underground electrical cable or equipment."
