Draft Letter to the Assembly Local Government Committee in Support of AB 1273

To the Residents of San Clemente:

On April 24, 2019, Assemblyman Brough presented in a testimony only hearing AB 1273 to the Assembly Local Government Committee. As you may recall, this bill would limit the authority of the Transportation Corridors Agencies (TCA), a.k.a. The Toll Roads of Orange County, to the maintenance, operation, and financing of toll highway corridors placed in service on or before January 1, 2020. It would leave vested in other agencies the planning and development functions currently duplicated by TCA. This measure would also limit TCA from incurring new bonded indebtedness.

Per agreement with the Chair, while there was no vote taken at this hearing, Assemblyman Brough did make the commitment to the committee to have AB 1273 again brought forth in January of 2020. That hearing is anticipated on January 15, 2020, at 1:30 pm.

Attached you will please find a draft letter you may wish to consider using. When you send such a letter, please identify who you are and that you are a resident of the City of San Clemente. For your convenience, please email a copy of that letter to Assistant City Manager Erik Sund at SundE@san-clemente.org. Erik will ensure that your letter is delivered to all the Members of the Assembly Local Government Committee.
