San Clemente Walmart Searched For Robbery Suspect, Shoppers Flee

SAN CLEMENTE, CA — Shoppers and workers fled the San Clemente Walmart Friday after a robbery suspect ran inside the busy store and hid from authorities, witnesses say.

A man attempted to rob a beauty supply store in the Walmart shopping center at approximately 2:45 p.m., according to Sgt. Todd Hylton of the Orange County Sheriff's Department.

The suspect entered the Walmart store, but left prior to OCSD's arrival at the scene, Hylton says.

The Walmart was temporarily evacuated during a search for the suspect. Shoppers and workers were allowed back inside approximately a half-hour later.

The suspect's identity has not yet been discovered.
